Catherine practices catastrophic negligence and medical malpractice law. She graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1978 with a BS in Pharmacy with High Distinction and from The Ohio State University with a JD with Honors in 1982. Some of her awards and honors include Phi Beta Kappa, Rho Chi Society, Order of the Coif, and Associate Editor of the Ohio State Law Journal.

Ms. Blackburn is very active, participating in several organizations. She is a member of the American Association for Justice and The Florida Justice Association. She serves on the Board of Directors for Florida Youth at Risk, Inc., a not for profit organization committed to transforming the lives of Florida youth. Ms. Blackburn has been admitted to the Bar in Ohio, 1982; the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, 1982; Florida, 1992; and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, 1983.
